'The Bachelor' Engagement Ring Update: Photos, Carat-Count and More!

(Note: My original report of a 3-carat center stone $90,000 ring was a bit off. Turns out the diamond carat-count totals 3 carats for all diamonds and the cost is about $50,000. Still - a gorgeous ring that will likely go back to the producers once the honeymoon's over.)

Oh, Brad. You may have picked the perfect Neil Lane diamond engagment ring - but it looks like your leading lady, Emily Maynard, might not stick around for a walk down the aisle.  Before we get to all that, the good news:

The ring was apparently the most expensive in the show's history - a $50,000 show-stopper accented with 263 round brilliant-cut diamonds around a “romantic” central cushion-cut diamond for a grand total of 3 carats.

But will the rock stay on Emily's ring finger? After watching their crazy uncomfortable appearance on the After The Rose show amid confessions of a 'rough couple of months' - I give it another news cycle.

According to PopEater, it's already over.

"Emily is so insecure, she just isn't cut out for all the fame and attention her relationship is under," a show insider told PopEater's Rob Shuter. "The six weeks of shooting the show in paradise was easy, away from prying eyes and photographers, but since they both returned to their normal lives things have been a disaster."

What do you think of the ring? Their chances? The fact that we continue to root for true love despite knowing we're being manipulated by folks hoping for their shot at the D-list? Sigh.

"The Bachelor" Engagement Ring Scoop

The Bachelor franchise has something going for it other than manufacturing doomed marriages for the sake of its deluded viewers (including yours truly). It has Neil Lane.

The celebrity designer has bedazzled the ring fingers of many blushing Bachelor brides-to-be and Bachelorettes since the show's inception 800 years ago. (Ok. 15 years ago)

According to StyleList, Lane personally globe-trots with a case of his vintage-inspired diamonds to help the reality show's stars handpick the rings that are part of the dramatic final rose ceremonies.

On the Season 15 finale airing tonight, hunky Texan Brad Womack will either offer single mom Emily Maynard or sultry siren Chantal O'Brien the final rose and the Neil Lane diamond stunner - which in previews appears to be a cushion-cut stone with pave accents.

Lane has bejeweled every celebrity under the sun  - from Jessica Simpson's ruby engagement ring to Reese Witherspoon's emerald earrings at this year's Oscars. But his diamonds are the most drool-worthy - which is why Kay Jewelers offers a line of Neil Lane bridal designs at price points mere mortals can afford.

"My rings used to be aspirational, but now they're attainable", he tells StyleList about the Kay partnership.

As for tonight's lucky lady? No one gets to keep the rock unless the relationship ends in a marriage that lasts longer than two years. So in other words? It's a Neil Lane loaner until she gets a gig on Dancing With The Stars. Stay tuned!

Alexander McQueen's Royal Frock Fest

Will Kate Middleton wear an Alexander McQueen dress to the royal wedding? If the rumor mill and today's Paris Fashion Week runway show are any indication, we may have an answer to the most buzzed about fashion question since the frenzy surrounding Michelle Obama's inauguration gown.

While the guessing game will likely continue until the event unfolds on April 29th, jewelry hounds and fashion fans can marvel instead at today's incredible Alexander McQueen offering - Sarah Burton's 2nd McQueen show as creative director, after his untimely passing last year.

The event was held at the 'uplifting' venue, Conciergerie, which was the antechamber to the guillotine during the French Revolution, holding thousands of prisoners, including one Marie Antoinette. It was also the site of one of McQueen's most memorable shows, where live wolves prowled the premises.

A series of black, bondage-inspired frocks opened the proceedings, followed by an angelic display of white gowns laced with pearls and bone china (!). Needless to say, a princess would look stunning in any of these creations with a little royal-friendly tweaking.

While jewelry was a veritable no-show here (and on most of the runway shows in Paris this year), McQueen shoes more than make up for our need for the 'lower jaw drop' couture moment.

I know one Monster Queen who's gonna want to get her claws into these....

Halle Berry's Bavna Bungle

Halle Berry sparkled at the NAACP Awards in a gorgeous gown by Pucci and stunning teardrop diamond danglers by red carpet darling, Bavna. So what's wrong with this picture?

We've been in this movie before.

Remember the statement makers Juliana Margulies wore to the Screen Actors Guild Awards this year? I, for one, couldn't forget them...and well...I guess Halle Berry's stylist didn't get the memo that these were some of the most talked about jewels of the night. 

But it's no surprise that Bavna is a go-to gem for red carpet A-listers these days. Statement earrings are perhaps the most popular category for our sartorial sirens, and Bavna is emerging as one of the best sources for them.

Every Kardashian under the sun has sported Bavna baubles on the carpet, in addition to celebs like Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Lopez.

The brains behind the Bavna brilliance is designer, Sunny Jain, who named the line after his mother, Bhavna Jain according to their Facebook Page.

The iPhone 4 Goes Glam

When most of us jewelry hounds think of a black diamond 'ring', we conjure images of the rock Carrie got from Big in the last Sex And The City flick or something Kat von D is likely to sport on her wedding day, right?

Going by carat-count alone, we're talking hundreds of thousands for a tricked-out text machine that you're likely to leave on the bathroom counter of your local watering hole or forget in the airport lounge or...(insert your own missing phone horror story).

But you'll look fabulous while you try to navigate your way to the nearest Starbucks.

Blake Lively: Chanel's Emerald Queen

The celebrity emerald jewelry trend that started with Angelina Jolie's Oscar jewels in 2009, expanded to Julianne Moore's Bulgari beauties in 2010 and peaked at this Sunday's Academy Awards with Reese Witherspoon and Annette Bening (deep inhale)...well, it continues to bring in fashion's biggest stars.

Gossip Girl's Blake Lively was every bit the sartorial siren when she attended a Chanel-hosted dinner in her honor last night at New York's La Grenouille in Chanel Haute Couture ('09), ballet-inpsired Louboutin pumps and STUNNING emerald earrings by (who else?) Lorraine Schwartz!

Did you hear? Everyone is shocked SHOCKED that Anne Hathaway was reportedly paid $750,000 to wear the gorgeous Tiffany jewelry we all gawked at on Sunday night! And that Gwyneth? She got $500,000 for sporting those Louis Vuitton L'ame du Voyage sparklers!

Yeah....And?

Why is it such a surprise that big stars are paid to endorse product on the largest fashion stage in the world? Grow up, people! Paying and gifting the privileged for air time has been going on for decades.
